About the owner

Erik Magnuson is 3KEYS owner, president, and general manager.  As such, Erik is responsible for all aspects of the company including management oversight, financial viability, growth of the company, and strategic direction.

Erik Magnuson is a second-generation, award-winning real estate professional with over 20 years of industry experience throughout the Western United States. 

Erik has extensive experience in residential property management, acquisitions, development, and rehabilitation.  Erik was awarded and recognized three times as one of the nation's top property managers while working for the nation's largest property management company.  Over the course of Erik's career, he successfully managed many asset types, including single-family residences, garden-style apartment communities, mixed-use mid-rise apartment buildings, high-rise apartment buildings, new ground-up apartment developments, apartment-to-condominium conversions, homeowners’ associations, commercial owners’ associations, and retail.

Since 2006, Erik has managed, analyzed, and underwritten over $9 billion in real estate.  Within that same timeframe, Erik has managed over $65 million in capital expenditures.  Since 2014, Erik has purchased over 1,500 residential units, with a combined purchase price of $200 million, which placed approximately $75 million in private equity.  The various property management companies Erik worked for prior to owning 3KEYS have a combined value of assets under management exceeding $85 billion, totaling nearly 1 million units worldwide.

Erik has rolled up his sleeves ever since he was old enough to work.  As a teenager, Erik started out working for a large produce grocer, then various commercial and residential roofing companies, an apartment reconstruction company, various landscape and tree trimming companies, various hotel, hospitality, and restaurant companies, and even worked as a commercial fisherman out of Bristol Bay, Alaska. 

Erik graduated from Bellarmine Preparatory School and Johnson & Wales University with a B.S. degree in Hotel Management.

In Erik’s spare time, he enjoys boating, snow skiing, working out at the gym, and cruising in his world-renowned 1970 Chevelle.  Erik and his family reside in Kirkland.
